4-0. Yes, a hammering but some money in the bank. Although not as much as I'd hoped due to the large number of Celtic fans who didn't turn up. Personally, I blame season tickets but that's another post. I downloaded the game from the Interweb but haven't even had time to watch it all the way through yet. NEED TO SIMPLIFY MY LIFE.
I'm glad I didn't waste the £10 or whatever travelling through for that one. Result!
I was on the number 17 bus to Slamannan the other night. It had just picked up passengers at the Falkirk Asda when a bus passed it going the other way. There was a guy on the bus who I could have sworn was Andrew Galloway. It was a number 13 by the way. Was it him?

Not that I'm going as I was over in Vancouver when the tickets were released.
When I was younger I used to get excited about games like this. I remember being amazed at the sheer number of people mulling around the streets when we played Celtic at Boghead in the Skol Cup in the late 80s. I remember the hair on the back of my neck standing up when I entered Parkhead a few years after and feeling the energy of a big crowd. But these days, it's just not the same. We are, more than likely, going to get humped and this is not a pleasant experience for any fan, especially when you've paid extra for the pleasure of it.
Of course, I'll still be wishing for a miraculous result and I'll be watching the game updates on Sky like always but as long as the Club get a decent amount of cash I'll be happy.
I hope the players enjoy it too whatever the result.

The site has been quite for a month or two due to me having far too much on my hands. My work life balance is all out of kilter, with too many things competing for my attention.
I'm hoping to simplify things a little in 2007!

Another game I didn't get to unfortunately. Dog-sitting, fireworks and a night out in Edinburgh sort of got in the way. Which is a shame as I missed another excellent home win.
The victory puts Sons in second place ahead of Queen's Park on goal difference.
This Saturday is another crunch game, away to Stenhousemuir who are only one point behind. I will definitely be at this game.....honest.

I had planned on doing a full match report, but the weekend seemed to vanish in an instant.
I was going to write about the strange Shire fans, the solo singing, the crumbling terracing, Shire's number 11 child-like tantrums but not enough time. So, to summarise - it was a walk in the park. Or more accurately, a walk in the farmer's field as the pitch was a disgrace.

The draw for the first and second rounds of the Tennant's Scottish Cup took place last Thursday.
Sons got a bye through the first round and were given an away tie against Raith Rovers in the second. If Sons can keep their form, this could be an very interesting match.
The tie will take place on Saturday 9th December.

Dumbarton's got back on track yesterday with a 2-0 win over Montrose. Stephen Dobbie scored both, one a penalty in the 27th minute and a shot in the 84th.

Dumbarton lost 1-0 to league leaders East Fife yesterday at New Bayview. By all accounts, it was another case of Sons not taking their chances.
This defeat leaves Sons in 6th place with 13 points, 6 points behind East Fife.
Sons have got a free Saturday next week, due to the Scotland game, so the next fixture is at home to Montrose on October the 14th.

A bit of delay getting this posted but I've been having a busy time with work stuff, website stuff, house stuff, finance stuff, dog-with-separation-anxiety stuff, (the list goes on.... I really should simplify my life a wee bit)
Any-hoo, Sons recorded another home win last Saturday with a 3-1 win over Albion Rovers. Sons scorers were David McNaught (23), Ryan Borris (42) and Albion Rovers player Lennon scored an o.g. too.
Sons climb up to 6th place and are only three points behind the league leaders East Fife. Talking of the Fifers, Sons travel to New Bayview on Saturday in what should be a cracking match.

On Saturday, Sons gave the Warriors a 4-0 pounding at The Rock.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get to the game due to work commitments, which is a shame as it appeared to be a good game. (Well, aren't all matches that finish 4-0 good!)
Goal scorers for Sons were Stephen Dobbie and Craig Winter with two apiece. That result sees the league get quite a bit tighter with only 3 points between Sons in 7th place and Stenny in 2nd.
Next up - Albion Rovers at The Rock on Saturday.

Perhaps I shouldn't be so pessimistic. Despite the previously documented bad feeling, Sons came away from Elgin with 3 points after a 2-0 defeat, leaving Elgin firmly planted at the botoom of Division 3 with 'null point'.
Must be a miserable time to be an Elgin City fan.
Sons next match is at home the mighty Warriors of Stenhousemuir. Stenny seem to be doing quite well just and are second place although losing 5-0 to East Stirlingshire would have been a bit embarassing. (5-0 to the 'Shire!, local rivals and all that.)
This will be a tough test for the Sons but a game we must win if we are to show any promotion potential.

Despite it being fairly early, I'm getting an uncomfortable feeling about this season.
After 5 games in Division 3, Sons have amassed a total of 4 points and are sitting second bottom of the division, ahead of only Elgin City who are so bad they have yet to win a single point.
This not good.
The home defeat by Arbroath on Sunday was Dumbarton's third consecutive league defeat and third game in a row in which Sons have failed to score.
This is also not good.
And to make matters worse, Sons travel to the league whipping boys, Elgin City, on Saturday. In our current situation it's probably odds on that Elgin will win. Well at least we won't be bottom......yet.
