Rovers were hardly in this game in the first half. Dumbarton were moving fluently. John Bradford was doing well on the wing and got a couple of shots in. Paddy Flannery was back in the side following his suspension but his touch seemed to let him down. Colin McKinnon got his name on the scoresheet in the 29th minute. Jamie Bruce just managed to head a long corner by Mooney back across the goal. Colin McKinnon ran onto it and stuck it in the net, injuring ex-Son Graeme "Diddy" Duncan in the process. We were hoping that Rovers would crumble but alas they never.
The first fifteen minutes of the second half it was all Dumbarton again. Craig Brittain was seeing a lot of the ball and combining with Flannery, Billy Melvin and John Bradford. From a Brittain pass, Paddy pulled off a superb turn and put the ball through for McKinnon. It was bit to heavy but he was unlucky not to score after the keeper and a defender collided.
After the initial fifteen minutes, Rovers came right back into it. They scored with a well timed through ball which the Dumbarton defence couldn't intercept. And the shot on goal went right into the right hand corner giving Kenny no chance. Kenny pulled off two good saves later in the game to keep it 1-1 but he didn't do himself any favours by kicking the ball straight out of play on at least four occasions. He wasn't even under any pressure for three of them. Following Rover's equalizer, the Sons passing play collapsed. Nobody seemed able to pass the ball to white shirt and any shots that got any where near the goal went straight into the keeper's arms.
