Match report from Sandy McGregor

My first trip back this season and what a performance. I was baffled at the start as neither team seemed to be wearing what I thought of as a Sons kit. Ir was then pointed out to me that it was Cowden in the yellow. The ref had not allowed the Sons to wear their own kit and so they went for the away one.....being a fan of lower division football in England I spotted it as a Colchester kit.

Fairly even stevens early on. On the half hour the Sons opened the scoring. Robertson picked the ball up wide on the left. He cut straight through the middle. He got a one on one with the keeper but shot straight at the goalie MCKINNON knocked the rebound in. The rest of the half was all Sons. In the first minute of the second half they had a man sent off for lashingout at Toby King. This set the half up for sdomplete domination by the Sons. It was as great domination as I have ever seen the Sons putting over a team. BILLY MELVIN got the second when he cut in from the right and slipped the ball under the keeper. Now I know John is not gooing to believe it but number three was a cross from the right met by FLANNERY who glanced his header home. Number four came when Flannery was tripped in the box. never e pen in a million years but it was all going our way. SHARP made no mistake. Sons completed the scoring when BILLY MELVIN finally struck home after the Sons had tried to walk the ball in and missed a sitter. The crowd were shouting ole's as the Sons knocked the ball about like Brazil in Mexico 70. They went off to a loud ovation even from the piggery. Not often that happens.

Best for Sons were Billy Melvin and Toby King.

Well if its going to be like this every week then expect me to be back up the M74 every week. It was to be honest just one of these days when everything went Sons way.
