A victory !! An away win ! 3 points in the bag ! Surprised, I certainly was. And it was good to see Turbo Hringsson back, playing as a trialist. He didn't seem as sharp as he was he last time he played for us but he certainly was quick.
Dumbarton didn't start particularily brightly and when McAneny put away the header for Alloa I thought the gubbing was on. But to their credit, Dumbarton got themselves back into the game. Grace scored with a low shot from the edge of the box following a fine flowing move.
Ten minutes after the break, Lee Sharpe scored a beauty, swerving the ball up and around the defensive wall from a free kick 25 yards out. Lee then had a penalty saved which would have put us on easy street had he scored.
Shortly after that, the referee awarded Alloa the unlikeliest penalty you ever did see. All the Dumbarton fans were stunned, a lot of the Alloa fans were peeing themselves with laughter. Justice was done when Kenny Meechan got down and saved it.
From then on, Dumbarton took the upper hand. We started passing the ball about and stuff like that. Craig Brittain was tormenting the Alloa defense on the left and Hringsson was doing the same on the right. It was great ! Alloa did threaten towards the end but we held out for the three points.
There's still time to win the league !
